The idea of a paved bike track started in the old industrial village Deje in 1999 through a local development project. When the industry and the railway had been closed down the inhabitants thought that something must be done. That's how it all started. The idea was that it should be used as a safe transport route for children, environmentally friendly commuting, competitions, increase tourism and also improve public health. The local politicians in Forshaga approved the project idea and the work started with the distance between Deje-Forshaga in 2000.
